PolyParadise '05 kitchen

Hello '05 Poly Campers -

Kathe here (or PolyGoddess for those that know my playa name) . .Your kitchen Goddess!! It's time to start thinking about our evening community meal within PolyParadise '05. This is also our group meeting time and sharing time. So, even if you don't want to partake with the community - you are encouraged to come and share your experiences from the day and night before. We also use this time to talk about camp business and get to know one another. Currently, we have 35 confirmed poly campers - WOW!! We're planning on growth to 50. For those that have never camped with us before, our tradition is to have a community meal together each night (Mon-Fri) after Poly High Tea (about 6pm) - sort of funky potluck on Sat.

The kitchen has seen some upgrades in the past year. For those who are new to PolyParadise - your kitchen includes: 3 6-foot tables, 1 large 2-burner propane stove, 2 2-burner camp stoves, asst. utensils (cooking and serving), many pots and pans, spices, foil, plastic wrap, Ziplocs, community cooler storage, etc. This year we have added 4 large stock pots, a BBQ grill, a microwave and blender.

Any coolers in the community cooler area will be drained and iced each day. The community water jug is also located in the community kitchen area. Please bring 5 gallons per person to donate to your fellow campers hydration. This cooler is filled and iced each day for community use.

Since the group is so large this year, I'm taking a different track with the community meal. This year we are encouraging folks to get together on providing a main dish. 50 is a lot of folks to for . . So, one group can do a dish for 25 and another group can do a dish for 25 - everyone else will bring side dishes complimentary to the theme set by the first volunteer.

There are some folks already stepping up to the plate . . Here's where we are so far:

Monday - )
Tuesday - Scotto and PolyGoddess (Mexican - fajitas)
Wednesday - AZ Burner potluck - bring something to share
Thursday -
Friday - OPEN
Saturday - Leftovers potluck
Sunday AM - Breakfast potluck

Another piece of the food puzzle I would like you to think about is snacks. A portion of the $35 camp fee is for 3 snacks per day per camper. So, what would you like to snack on? Here's what I brought last year . .

Frozen fruit
Chocolate
Chips (asst.)
Nuts
Cookies
Pudding
Fruit cups
Applesauce
Breakfast bars
Jerky
Rice Krispie squares
Asst. beverages (Gatorade, tea, coffee, etc.)

Please post to the list if you would like to volunteer for a meal, have snack request or have any additional questions.

Look forward to seeing all of you in '05 . .
Hugs, Kathe AKA PolyGoddess
