You are invited to Scorched Feet!!!
This is a relaxed campout being held on the Nevada side of Lake Mohave
Telephone Cove (outside of Bullhead City, AZ/ Laughlin, NV) from
Friday June 3rd- Sunday June 5th. This is a Burner friendly
event, but it is being held on National Park Service land and we
will have neighbors.
Lora and I are gonna make signs with feet on them at the turn off the
163 and probably a few more along the dirt road.
From AZ:
Get on 163 in Laughlin. Basically you are going up the hill starting
towards Las Vegas. Look for a metal guardrail on the right. At the end
of the metal/concrete barrier turn right on to the dirt road. The turn
is 4.3 miles from the Laughlin bridge (assuming you are coming from
hwy 95 through Bullhead) If you hit the mountains you passed it.
From Las Vegas:
Take 95 toward Bullhead/Laughlin. Right on to 163 to Laughlin. It is
14.8 miles or 8/10 of a mile past the 14 mile marker to the turn. Its
the first left (dirt road) when you come out of the mountains just
before the concrete/metal guardrail starts.
Now that you found the dirt road: Make an immediate right (really its
the only road) Follow the dirt road 4.3 miles to the end. DO NOT
FOLLOW ANY SIDE ROADS. The road is narrow, has some tight turns and
hills. Regular cars/trucks can do it no problem and we see RV's there.
But be careful if you plan to bring and RV or trailer.
We plan to be camped at the right side when you get to the water. The
water comes up against some rocks/mountain there and we think we can
block a nice space.
General Info:
There are 2 pit toilets there and possibly a dumpster.
Boats can be beach launched from the NV side or you can pay and launch
with a ramp at Katherine's Landing on the AZ side. BYOE-Bring
everything you need to camp for the weekend by the lake. (Laughlin is
close if we need ice, etc) Bring fire wood (we cannot gather it) (see
below) Cell phones don't seem to work at the lake (at least mine
won't) Potlucks are planned for Saturday lunch and dinner and Sunday
breakfast. A few people will be there Thurs night.
We had fire restrictions last year, but its being held earlier this
year and its been wet, so hopefully we will be able to have fires.
