Holidaze 2004 - Saturday December 18th |
Though the event officially unfolds at 3 pm on Saturday, like most
Burner parties this is essentially an all-weekend event (just know that if
you show up before 3 pm on Saturday you will probably be put to
work). Breakfast Sunday morning is a possibility, if anyone is sober
enough to get up and make it. People will be here starting Friday evening,
feel free to come by if you would like to help set up. Staying over on
Sunday to hang out and help clean up is also encouraged if you are so inclined. Like any other Burner event it's what we make it, so
participation and volunteerism is welcome and encouraged.
Location:
3121 N. 27th Place
Phoenix, AZ
Directions and map are here:
http://www.fiestadelosmuertos.com/dirmap.htm
(That is the directions from the Halloween party, but the same instructions
stand. Unless otherwise arranged in advance, please don't park on 27th
Place, but park on Earl and surrounding streets).
Phone: 602-840-4936 (can leave messages if no one answers). TC and Blank are in charge of ranger stuff, they will probably be piping up
with their cell numbers before the party.
Invitees: The usual rules apply. Don't invite your whole office or everyone
from your school or post it on your bulletin board, but if you have a
friend or loved one you'd like to introduce to the lifestyle, who you think
will mesh well with our group and doesn't mind crazy naked fire spinning
people, they are more than welcome. We will be selectively carding people
that we don't know at the door who appear as if they might be under 21.
Those persons under 21 who are not with a responsible person 21 or over
will not be admitted entrance. We will make every attempt to be inclusive,
but we also have to protect ourselves from legal consequences.
Food/Beverage: Holidaze is BYO Everything, and I mean it. I will be
providing my house and yard, and my electricity and heat and water, sound
system, garbage cans, ashtrays, tables & chairs, whatever I've got, but
that's it. I have no budget to purchase anything extra. Please bring
everything you will need for the time you expect to stay - food, beverages,
alcohol, ice, plates and cups, warm clothing, bedding, carpets, tents,
music, toys, fire, firewood, furry stuff, whatever strikes your fancy. There will be a largish propane grill at your disposal. Bringing a dish and
beverages to share would be nice, but at least bring enough for you to eat
and drink (including breakfast if necessary). There will be limited
refrigerator space so coolers are a good idea.
Rangers: Toast Rangers will have an official presence at Holidaze, and one
ranger will be sober and on duty from about 10 pm until 8 am in two hour
shifts to handle any problems that might arise, LEO's showing up, etc.
Blank and TC are in charge of this, please email them at
Blank and TC respectively if you have
questions. Rangers will have the authority to ask disruptive parties to
leave should any such situation arise, and their decisions are final.
Greeters: We need greeters to work the door and supervise parking. If you
would be interested in taking a greeter shift please email me.
Crash space: If you want to spend the night/next day you are more than
welcome. There will be crash space both inside the house and out. It's not
a huge house but there will be the floor space of three rooms plus a fold
out bed, a couch and a love seat inside, and another fold out and two love
seats outside under the covered back porch. The house has essentially two
back yards, the west yard will be available for tents to be pitched if that
is what you would like to do. Tents may be pitched starting Friday
evening. I may also have some limited room for RV's (two or three at most)
but if that's something you want to do, please email me ASAP so we can work
out the details. Preference will be given to those who are willing to host
others in their RV's, or are bringing lots of people up from Tucson or
something along those lines. We will also be putting up a 30 foot shelter
space along the fence of the east yard that will be available as
crash/snuggle space. If you look impaired, we will ask you to stay over
until you are not.
Fire: As those of you that made it to the Halloween party know, there is
ample room for spinning and other fire activities. Rat and Pami are
bringing burn barrels. If you would like to bring a burn barrel or other
heat producing object, that would be great, just shoot me and email and let
me know. Depending upon if there is interest, and how many people want to
erect tents in the west yard, AND if it's deemed safe by the Toast Rangers
and anyone else with more experience burning stuff than I do, there may be
a possibility of burning art in the west yard, as it has no grass. Please
contact me ASAP if this is something you're interested in doing. And
please, if you can, bring firewood to donate.
Music/Movies/Drums/Performers/Art: I have a sound system with speakers both
inside and outside the house. (There is also another CD player for the
bedroom if so desired). The sound level will be monitored by myself and the
rangers and volunteer help to make sure it doesn't drive my neighbors nuts.
If someone wants to set up anything more complicated, if any DJ's would
like to spin or you have a band and want to set up amps or you would like
to do some kind of performance or dance, this is doable as there is a
stage-like concrete pad in the east yard (we ran power out from the house
to it for the Halloween party).
Please contact me if this is something you
would be interested in. Please bring your drums, musical instruments, and
favorite CD's and tapes or I will submit you to my taste. There are also
two televisions both equipped with VHS and DVD and I believe that someone
will be bringing a projector, which will probably be projected onto the
white wall of the storage room in the west yard as it was at the Halloween
party. If you would like to bring something to share please feel free. Art
is also welcome, just again, drop me a line and let me know so we can plan.
Celebrations/Birthdays: Those of you that would like to acknowledge your
particular faith in some manner, since it is that time of year, are
encouraged to do so. Rat, Ruben and Bartholomew and our other December
babies will probably be spanked and humiliated....err we should celebrate
their birthdays, if someone wants to bring a cake.
Gift Exchange: As has been done at the past, I would like to do a white
elephant/dirty Santa style gift exchange. If you would like to participate,
please bring a wrapped gift at around a $10 value. Home-made gifts are
welcome but not required.
Clothing/Nudity: As always, playa wear is highly encouraged, and clothing
is optional. The back and west sides are screened by oleander; we will be
screening out the west yard fence and erecting a shelter space against the
east yard fence for privacy from the front, and my neighbors to the east
are nudists and already have a screened fence. It will probably be cold
though, and though the house will be part of the party, a lot of fun stuff
will be going on outside, so please be sure to bring something warm to
snuggle up in.
Restroom: There is unfortunately only one, in the house, but it will be at
your disposal. Some limited discussion has been made about a portajohn, but
I'm not sure where we are with that. If we do decide to arrange for one we
may ask for a $5 dollar donation or something like that at the door to cover it.
Pets: Since space is limited, and there will be fire, loud music, and other
activities upsetting to animals, we'll have to ask you to leave them at
home. I will be relocating my pets for the weekend. People dressed as animals
are okay though.
I think that's everything, please email me or just reply onlist if you have
any questions or comments.
